If you’re connected to a local area network (LAN) and get an error message saying that “Windows has detected an IP address conflict” there is no need to panic or smash your machine, it simply means that two or more computers on the network (for whatever reason) were assigned the same IP address, something which will keep either one of or all the affected machines from properly accessing the Internet (among other things) until the issue is resolved.
IP conflict
The fix is quite simple (if the IP address is being assigned automatically):
  1. Click on Start and type in cmd
  2. Right mouse click on cmd when it show up and choose “Run as administrator
  3. Type “ipconfig /release” (without the quotation marks) and hit Enter
  4. Type “ipconfig /renew” (without the quotation marks) and hit Enter
  5. Reboot your computer
